Formula

mL/hr = (mcg/min × 60) ÷ (mg/mL × 1,000)

How it is used

• Work out the bag concentration first: total mg in the bag ÷ total mL (a 50 mg in 250 mL nitroglycerin bag is 0.2 mg/mL, or 200 mcg/mL).
• For drugs ordered per kilogram (dopamine, norepinephrine), use the mcg/kg/min calculator instead.
