Terms of Service for RN Basics
Effective Date: November 3, 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Grip Theory LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). They apply when you use the RN Basics application on iOS or Android, the RN Basics web app, the website rnbasics.com (together, the "Services"), and Basics Social, the tool described in section 5. By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
2. Education, Not Medical Advice
RN Basics is a study tool for the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN and for nursing education. Its questions, rationales, case studies, reference pages, one-pagers and videos are for exam preparation and general education only. They are not medical advice, they are not a substitute for professional training, clinical judgment, or the protocols, policies and drug references of your institution, and they must not be used to make decisions about a real patient's care. Clinical guidelines change, and content can contain errors despite our review. If you find one, please report it (section 9).
Practice scores and readiness estimates are study aids. They do not predict or guarantee any exam result.
3. Using the Services
The Services are free to use and need no account. You may use them for your own study and teaching. You agree not to:
- copy, sell, republish or redistribute the question bank, case studies, rationales or other content, in whole or in substantial part, or use it to build a competing product or train an AI model;
- scrape, crawl or download the content in bulk by automated means, or interfere with or overload the Services;
- reverse engineer the apps, except where the law allows it;
- use the Services in a way that breaks the law or the rules of any exam you take.
Sharing a single question or your score with friends or classmates, with credit to RN Basics, is fine.
4. Our Content and Trademarks
The questions, explanations, case studies, graphics, videos, text and software of the Services belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. "RN Basics," "ICU Basics," "Medic Basics" and their logos are our marks. Sources we cite belong to their owners.
RN Basics is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. (NCSBN). NCLEX®, NCLEX-RN® and NCLEX-PN® are registered trademarks of the NCSBN. Other names mentioned belong to their owners.
5. Basics Social and TikTok
Basics Social is a desktop tool we use to post our own short educational videos to the TikTok accounts of RN Basics, ICU Basics and Medic Basics through TikTok's official Content Posting API. If you use it, or sign in to TikTok through it:
- you must have the right to use the TikTok account you connect, and you remain responsible for what you post and for following TikTok's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines;
- nothing is posted until you choose a video, review its caption and settings, and press Post; by posting you also agree to TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation and, for branded content, its Branded Content Policy;
- you may post only content you own or have permission to post;
- you can disconnect Basics Social at any time in TikTok's settings. How Basics Social handles your TikTok information is described in our Privacy Policy.
TikTok is not affiliated with us and does not endorse the Services. We are not responsible for TikTok's service, its decisions about posts or accounts, or changes to its API.
6. Third-Party Services
The apps are distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and some pages show videos hosted on YouTube. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we do not control them and are not responsible for their content.
7. Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that your progress, which is stored on your device, will never be lost; back it up from Settings if it matters to you.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, exam results, opportunities or profits, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services or from relying on their content, even if we were told such damages were possible. Because the Services are free, our total liability for any claim relating to them is limited to US $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
9. Changes, Ending Use, and Contact
We may change or stop any part of the Services, and we may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" above and, if necessary, give notice in the App. Using the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms. You can stop using the Services at any time by deleting the App; we may stop providing them to anyone who breaks these Terms.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services.
